First Impressions
The premise of the slot is quite simple. Players enter the grounds of a haunted house where ghosts live a life of their own. The graphics are great and the approach quite cartoonish. This was quite unexpected but it does lend a sense of novelty to the paranormal theme. Players can expect payouts with clusters of 5 or more matching symbols. And thanks to the Tumble Mechanic, winning combinations are removed to make way for more symbols that could lead to multiple wins from a single spin. It’s a great mechanic choice and complements the light-hearted approach of the overall game.
Key Features
Now let’s take a look at the main features of the game. After a winning combination is removed, a 1 x 1 Ghost Glyph symbol remains on the reels. This acts as a Wild and if it forms part of a winning cluster in the subsequent crumble, the ghost is released and it flies up to activate one of the Ghost Urns atop the reels. Depending on the colour, each activated Urn unleashes a ghost that triggers a specific feature.
The Yellow Ghost Urn spreads up to 10 randomly placed Wilds in the game area. The Green Ghost Urn randomly selects a low-paying symbol and transforms all of those symbols to another symbol to help you land winning combinations. The Red Ghost Urn removes a specific type of low-paying symbol from the reels. And finally, the Blue Ghost Urn activates the Bonus game. Here, the game area pans upwards and moves inside the mansion where the Free Spins are played out.
Once in the Bonus Game, players can win even more Free Spins when the Blue Ghost Urn is activated. Plus, there’s also a Massive Wild feature that could take the Bonus game payout to epic heights. Once back in the base game, you’ll definitely be spinning in the hopes of landing the Free Spins round again considering that you’re most likely to land the maximum payout there.
Final Thoughts
Following Quickspin’s success with Golden Glyph, it makes sense that they would want to give the same game set-up another go. Ghost Glyph’s theme is quirky, fun, and doesn’t take itself too seriously. Even though it’s technically a Halloween-themed slot, it’s not cliche, not an easy feat with such a saturated theme. Plus, the maximum payout is over 2,000x the original stake so it’s a decent amount for a slot of medium volatility. All in all, Ghost Glyph gets a thumbs up from our end . . . we definitely suggest giving it a try this Halloween!
